Organic Sunflower Oil HO cold pressed

Use of high-oleic organic sunflower oil in the cosmetics industry

Only specific, naturally bred sunflower varieties with a very high content of monounsaturated oleic acid are used to obtain high-oleic sunflower oil. Compared to the original linoleic acid-rich version, the high-oleic sunflower oil has even better spreading properties. Used in creams and ointments as a base oil, high-oleic sunflower oil is said to form a protective film over the skin, supporting dry and mature skin.

Did you know?

Sunflower oil is the fatty oil obtained from the peeled, partially ground seeds of the sunflower (Helianthus annuus) through mechanical cold pressing and filtration.

The sunflower originally comes from North America and spread further south. The Incas worshipped the sunflower as the face of God. At the end of the 16th century, it was brought to Europe by Spanish sailors. The sunflower plant with its roughly hairy stem grows between one and two meters tall. Its bud turns toward the sunlight. During a sunny day, it follows the sun’s path from east to west—an ability known as heliotropism. The unmistakable blooming, yellow composite flower usually faces east.
