Dill Seed Oil
Steam distilling the fruits (seeds) of dill yields the essential dill seed oil. Compared to dill herb oil, the dill seed oil is a bit stronger due to a higher ketone content. However, both have similar effects and thus similar uses.
In phytotherapy, the dill seed oil is mainly used for digestive issues, bloating, and colics. It is also considered to stimulate bile flow and may prevent complaints or bile stasis. For this, the gallbladder-liver area can be gently massaged with the dill seed oil. The same method can be used for areas with potential thrombosis risk.
The dill seed oil is a valuable addition to the food industry. In small amounts, preferably mixed with other fatty oils, it is a great seasoning oil that harmonizes wonderfully with salads and fish dishes. Vegan vegetable patties also become a delicacy with dill seed oil.
In aromatherapy, the dill seed oil is used as a mild stimulant for emotional processing, for example after personal crises.
The dill seed oil pairs well with Roman chamomile.
