Fir Needle Essential Oil
The fir needle oil is colourless to yellowish and has a characteristic fresh, green, forest-like aroma with resinous and slightly balsamic notes.
In the cosmetics and perfume industry, fir needle oil is particularly suitable for the development of personal care products, bath and body care formulations, as well as fragrance compositions with a fresh, forest-like or balsamic character.
Fir needle oil combines particularly well with other conifer oils, such as Organic Swiss Stone Pine Oil.
The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the needles and shoot tips of the fir tree.
Interesting Things
Fir trees retain their needles for several years. The needles contain numerous small oil glands in which volatile aromatic compounds are stored.
Depending on the species, fir trees can live for several hundred years. The silver fir (Abies alba), for example, can reach an age of several centuries under favourable conditions.
