Organic Eucalyptus Oil Globulus
The organic essential eucalyptus globulus oil has a fresh and spicy scent, like camphor. It can be used in aromatherapy, cosmetics, soaps, oral hygiene products, vapor rubs, industrial fragrances and cleaning products.
In cosmetics, the essential eucalyptus oil is mainly used as a fragrance in herbal and needle compositions and for the perfuming of soaps, cleaning agents and room fragrances.
Eucalyptus oil can also be found in insect repellent products (candles, room fragrances). Furthermore, a large part of the global production is processed into oral care products (toothpaste, mouthwash) or for the aromatization of medicinal products.
The oil is obtained by water steam distillation of the fresh or dried leaves of Eucalyptus globulus.
Interesting things
When holding eucalyptus leaves toward sunlight, tiny translucent dots are visible. Those are oil glands filled with volatile compounds. The tree evolved these oils partly as defense against insects, antimicrobial protection and for heat and drought adaptation. The main molecule, Eucalyptol, creates a cooling, opening sensation.
