Peppermint Oil
Our organic essential peppermint oil is characterized by its fresh, cool, and distinctly minty aroma and it can be used in cough drops, toothpaste, chewing gum, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc.
Furthermore, peppermint oil has applications in aromatherapy, skin- and bodycare, hair care, household use, and for food flavoring.
Organic peppermint oil pairs well with our Lavender Oil and Lemon Peel Oil.
The oil is extracted by water steam distillation of the fresh or slightly dried herb from peppermint (Mentha piperita).
Interesting things
Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used peppermint oil for perfumes, baths, herbal preparations, and food flavoring. The peppermint itself, mentha + piperita, is actually a relatively modern hybrid between watermint and spearmint.
Peppermint is usually harvested right before or during early flowering, when the essential oil concentration is highest. The freshly harvested material contains 70%-80% water and glands producing oil are located on the leaf surfaces
