Oragnic Calamus Oil
In some Asian countries, the calamus plant, a type of reed, symbolizes love and affection. The Oragnic Calamus Oil (also known as Calmus Oil) is obtained from the roots/rhizomes of this plant via steam distillation. Though originally from Southeast Asia, the reed-like marsh plant can now also be found north of the equator. In German, it’s also known as German ginger or stomach root.
Topical use of Oragnic Calamus Oil requires strict medical supervision and should only be used for a limited time due to its high beta-asarone content, which can cause cramps and liver damage. Internal use of Oragnic Calamus Oil is not recommended and is therefore not suitable for the food industry.
Experienced aromatherapists and natural health practitioners use Oragnic Calamus Oil for its tannins and bitter compounds in cases of inflammation—diluted as a stomach rub, for digestive issues, or mild colds.
In cosmetics, the essential Oragnic Calamus Oil adds a spicy, herbal aroma. In perfumery, it creates tobacco and amber notes that are said to have a slightly aphrodisiac effect.
In aromatherapy, Oragnic Calamus Oil used in diffusers is said to stimulate the senses and help overcome weakness and emotional crises. It is even described as having a slightly intoxicating effect and may help with sleep disorders.
