The use of organic castor oil in the cosmetics industry
Decorative cosmetics benefit greatly from the versatile properties of organic castor oil. As a solvent, it is not only viscous and adhesive but also water-repellent, and improves pigment wetting. Additionally, it forms a protective film on skin and hair with a re-fattening, glossy effect. Therefore, organic castor oil is a popular ingredient in lipsticks, eyeliners, and mascara, as well as in tonics and care oils for hair and nails.
Interesting facts
Our organic castor oil is obtained by cold pressing and filtration from the seeds of the castor plant. Depending on climate, the castor plant grows 1 to 2 meters high in temperate zones and up to 13 meters in the tropics. It has a bluish waxy stem and greenish to reddish bark. Its leaves, up to 1 meter wide, are hand-shaped, green like the stem, and toothed. Male flowers in clusters sit below the terminal female flowers. Bright red, spiky fruits each contain three bean-shaped seeds.
