Interesting Things

Despite its name, lemongrass belongs to the grass family (Poaceae), making it more closely related to wheat and rice than to lemons.

Its fresh lemon scent does not come from the lemon itself but is primarily due to the naturally occurring aroma compound citral. From a botanical perspective, lemongrass and lemon are not closely related.
