Organic Safflower oil linoleic refined
Use in the cosmetics industry
Unlike the oleic acid-rich (high-oleic; a monounsaturated fatty acid) organic safflower oil, this oil stands out due to its high content of polyunsaturated linoleic acid, hence the addition “Linoleic.” The linoleic acid, which is not contained in any other plant oil to this extent, is said to support skin compatibility. In the cosmetics industry, linoleic safflower oil is therefore used in soap making, as a re-fatting ingredient in shower gels and bath oils, or as a care oil for sensitive skin around the eyes as well as in creams for sensitive combination skin.
The plant
The flower color of the (dyer's) safflower resembles saffron, which explains its nickname False Saffron. Earlier, the dyer's safflower was cultivated for the production of the safflower-red dye carthamin, today rather for oil production. The Egyptians already used the dyeing properties of safflower to color mummy cloths. The dyer's safflower grows quickly up to its final height of up to 1.3 meters. Its leaves are thorny, its flower looks like a small basket from which up to 150 orange-yellow tubular flowers grow.
