The use of organic camelina oil in the cosmetic industry
Our refined camelina oil (organic) has a light yellow color and a mild, neutral scent. Camelina oil naturally contains alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid) and is used in the cosmetics industry due to its skin-care properties.
Refined camelina oil has a lighter texture and a more neutral sensory profile compared to cold-pressed camelina oil, making it suitable for formulations where color and odor consistency are important.
Refined camelina oil is commonly used in:
face creams
body lotions
skin care formulations
hair care products
decorative cosmetics
Our refined camelina oil is obtained by cold-pressing Camelina sativa seeds. The resulting oil is then refined.
We also offer cold-pressed organic camelina oil and camelina oil for food industry applications.
Interesting facts
Camelina is considered an ancient crop, believed to have been used in the diet of the Celts.
The camelina plant is not very demanding and even acts as a natural herbicide. When planted alongside oats or peas, it covers the soil and prevents weeds from growing. The annual plant grows to about half a meter and has small, pale yellow flowers. The hard, pod-like fruits contain 8-16 seeds, each about 5 mm long and containing 30-40% oil.
