Organic blackcurrant seed oil, cold-pressed

Our organic blackcurrant seed oil has an olive-green to black color, with a characteristic blackcurrant aroma.

Organic blackcurrant seed oil naturally contains unsaturated fatty acids, including linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and stearidonic acid.

Due to its fatty acid profile, organic blackcurrant seed oil is a popular ingredient in cosmetic formulations, such as facial oils, body oils, creams, lotions, and serums. Blackcurrant seed oil is also valued for its emollient properties and its ability to enhance a product’s sensory profile.

The oil is obtained from organically grown blackcurrant seeds (Ribes nigrum). The blackcurrants are pressed, and the fruit pulp is separated from the seeds. The seeds are then dried and cold-pressed to extract the oil. We also offer food-grade organic blackcurrant oil.

Interesting things

The blackcurrant is a shrub that can grow up to 2 meters tall. Its greenish-white flowers grow in clusters, followed by black berries.

Native to the temperate regions of Europe and Asia, the black currant (Ribes nigrum) is now cultivated in many parts of the world. Its aromatic berries have long been prized in food and beverages, and the oil extracted from its seeds is used as an ingredient in cosmetic formulations.
