Organic milk thistle oil is used as a cosmetic ingredient in a variety of skin and body care formulas. It is often included in creams, body care products, foot care products, and sunscreens.

The oil is obtained from milk thistle seeds (Silybum marianum) through cold pressing, after which it is decanted and filtered. We also offer organic milk thistle seed oil for the food industry.

Interesting things

The plant likely came to Central Europe as a medicinal herb through the Romans and was widely used in monastic gardens. Today, it can be found wild in northern Germany, Denmark, Belgium, and England. It probably originates from the Mediterranean and Western Asian steppes and has spread worldwide.

The root is a deep, spindle-shaped taproot, from which a plant up to two meters tall with many leaves grows. The edges of the milk thistle leaves are densely covered with strong thorns.

Milk thistle oil is extracted by mechanical pressing from the seeds of the purple, thorny milk thistle flower heads.
