Organic Linseed Oil Cold Pressed

Organic Linseed Oil and its use in the food industry

The “liquid gold” Organic Linseed Oil refines many recipes in the food industry. Its nutty taste enhances salads, dips, quark dishes, and desserts. It can also be drizzled into soups as a flavorful touch.

What are the components of Organic Linseed Oil?

With over 50% Omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, it’s a real alternative to fish or fish oil for vegans and vegetarians. This high content causes a low smoke point, making Organic Linseed Oil unsuitable for frying or deep-frying.

Organic Linseed Oil is not Camelina Oil Organic

Don’t confuse Organic Linseed Oil with our Organic Camelina Oil. Despite similar names, they are completely different botanically. Flax belongs to the Linaceae family, while camelina is a brassica. Their flavors also differ: Organic Linseed Oil is nutty, Organic Camelina Oil is pea-meadow-like.

Did You Know?

Humans have cultivated flax for centuries. In the Middle Ages, knights used linseed oil on armor, and old timber-framed houses were treated with it as wood protection. The stalks were processed into linen clothing.

The annual flax plant grows 0.5–1 m tall and blooms white to blue (while camelina blooms yellow). Its round fruits contain small seeds – either yellow-golden or brown varieties, depending on the type.

The flax seeds contain about 40% oil, which we extract gently using our screw press, followed by decanting and fine filtration.
