Trivia
The alternative name, such as "Inca wheat or grain" indicates the initial use of the seeds: even the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans used amaranth seeds as important sources of protein due to their similarity to cereals.
"Inca wheat or grain" comes from the temperate and warmer areas of eastern and central South America, especially the Andes, and can reach a height of up to 1.20 m.
Amaranth flowers are reddish-purple in color and hang down when fully developed.
