Organic Safflower Oil, high-oleic, refined
Our organic safflower oil, refined, high-oleic, is light yellow in colour and has a neutral aroma.
Refined safflower oil (high-oleic) is a versatile vegetable oil and can be used as an ingredient in creams, lotions, body oils, bath oils and other skincare products. Its delicate aroma and characteristic colour make it suitable for a wide range of cosmetic applications.
The oil is obtained from safflower seeds (Carthamus tinctorius) by cold pressing. The oil is then decanted, filtered, and refined. We also supply organic linoleic safflower oil and organic high-oleic safflower oil, cold-pressed.
Interesting facts
The safflower's flower color resembles saffron, which explains its nickname “false saffron”. Historically, the safflower was cultivated for the red dye carthamin, while today it is primarily grown for oil production. The ancient Egyptians also used safflower’s coloring properties to dye mummy cloths.
Safflower grows quickly to a final height of up to 1.30 meters. Its leaves are thorny, and the flower resembles a small basket from which up to 150 orange-yellow tubular florets emerge.
