The use of castor oil in the cosmetics industry
Our castor seed oil (FSG) ranges in color from light yellow to yellow and has a characteristic odor.
In cosmetic applications, castor seed oil is a widely used ingredient, particularly in decorative cosmetics, due to its viscous consistency. Cold-pressed castor oil is frequently used in formulations such as lipsticks, eye pencils, and mascara, where it contributes to texture, stability, and pigment dispersion. The oil is also used in skin, hair, and nail care products, as well as in cosmetic oils and toners.
Castor seed oil (FSG) is obtained from the seeds of the castor plant through cold pressing and subsequent filtration. We also offer organic cold-pressed castor seed oil.
Interesting facts
Organic castor oil is obtained from the seeds of Ricinus communis, a plant that is grown primarily in tropical and subtropical regions. Organic castor oil has a naturally high content of ricinoleic acid, which accounts for approximately 85–90% of its fatty acid composition. This specific characteristic gives the oil its typical viscous texture.
Currently, India is the world’s largest producer and exporter of castor oil.
