The use of organic castor oil in the cosmetics industry
Our organic castor oil has a light yellow to yellow color and a characteristic odor.
In the cosmetics industry, organic castor oil is a popular ingredient in decorative cosmetics for its viscous consistency. Cold-pressed castor oil is frequently used as an ingredient in products such as lipsticks, eyeliners, and mascara, where it contributes to texture, adhesion, and pigment dispersion. The oil is also used in skin, hair, and nail care formulas, as well as in cosmetic oils and tonics.
Organic castor oil is obtained from the seeds of the castor plant through cold pressing and subsequent filtration. We also carry cold-pressed castor seed oil.
Interesting facts
Organic castor oil is obtained from the seeds of Ricinus communis, a plant that is grown primarily in tropical and subtropical regions. Organic castor oil has a naturally high content of ricinoleic acid, which accounts for approximately 85–90% of its fatty acid composition. This specific characteristic gives the oil its typical viscous texture.
Currently, India is the world’s largest producer and exporter of castor oil.
