Organic Chia Seed Oil and its use in the food industry
Organic chia oil, also known as chia seed oil, is obtained from one of the most popular so-called superfoods.
Thanks to its subtle taste and nutritional profile, you can add an extra serving of superfood to your food industry products without significantly changing the recipe. Organic chia oil can be used in a variety of recipes, such as salad dressings, smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, or soups.
Organic chia oil contains a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids (similar to organic flaxseed oil).
The small gray or brown seeds of the chia plant are cold-pressed to produce organic chia oil.
Interesting facts
The Aztecs cultivated the chia plant as early as 3500 BC. The Spanish discouraged the use of "Spanish sage," as the chia plant was called, during the colonization of Central America because of its religious use. However, it survived in certain areas of Mexico, so that today it can be cultivated again.
The herbaceous chia plant grows to a height of about one and a half meters and belongs to the mint family. Its small purple flowers resemble lavender.
